Nya Nordisca
nya nordisca, fabrics

Clear shapes and a reduction to the essentials have been the brand's concept since the company was founded, making nya nordiska's design signature unmistakable and many of its designs timeless classics. The influences and design principles characteristic of the Scandinavian school of design are rooted in the years of study and travel of the company's founder, Heinz Rentgen, who, after studying art history, worked for various European textile printing companies. He returned to Germany with a clear vision and founded nya nordiska, a textile editing company, in Düsseldorf in 1964. His creative concepts and ideas still shape the company's design and philosophy. "Absolutely modern, ultimately timeless". This is the guiding principle we consistently rethink.

In 2010, the company's headquarters in Dannenberg in Lower Saxony, which today employs 50 people, was impressively expanded by Staab Architects by merging material, form and function into one with the existing half-timbered buildings.

The reddish anodized metal façade of the extension vaguely resembles Scandinavian wooden houses and harmoniously fits into the historical form of the city as an interaction between old and new.
